Ilani Casino & Hotel

The PCI team used innovative technology and collaboration to deliver the 15-story Ilani Casino and Resort hotel. Through pods and prefabrication, they solved issues while avoiding delays and rework. The hotel’s “repeatable footprints” enabled early design of prefabricated wall panels and kits. PCI Portland leveraged its recent investment in Framecad Stud Roll Form machines to meet demand.

PCI BIM modelers created detailed stud-level models and install-ready kit “print lists,” coordinating with MEP trades to integrate access paths and reduce field questions.

When hoisting constraints arose, the team quickly engineered a custom crane-mounted device, allowing panels and kits to land safely on slabs and be wheeled into place.

By utilizing prefabrication, PCI Portland was able to offer expert solutions for all involved:

  • For the owner, PCI created a first-class representation of their vision with schedule and cost certainty.
  • For the general contractor, PCI ensured QA/QC and schedule certainty, while not requiring the
    usual scrap and clean process.
  • For the other trades, PCI offered greater collaboration with the technological resources of their Framecad virtual “as-built” and 3D scans helping with layout and QA/QC.
  • For the design team, PCI provided construct-ability answers for their conceptual ideas.
  • For PCI’s craftworkers, prefabrication removed any guesswork, giving them accurate
prefabricated materials and allowing them to succeed safely.

Through prefabrication, PCI took the basic scope of framing and changed it into a collaborative
innovative experience with great results.
