Meet Leily Martin: Building a Career with PCI

Leily Martin works as a Project Engineer at the PCI Los Angeles branch. She shared her career story with us in April 2026, after just wrapping up her first official project as a PE.

How long have you been in construction?

I have been with PCI for two years. Before that I attended Cal Poly and completed two internships with other construction companies.

What positions have you held at PCI?

APE & PE

What do you enjoy most about your current role?

I enjoy being close to the work in the field. In my role as a PE, I’ve had the opportunity to build strong relationships with our field teams and learn directly from them. Through job walks, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of constructability and how field conditions shape project decisions.

What’s your biggest challenge(s)?

Maintaining clear communication and ensuring an accurate record of project history can be challenging. These challenges push me to become more adaptable and continue to find ways to support the team to keep the project moving forward.

What do you value at work?

I value being in an environment that challenges me while also providing the support and resources needed to grow. In my role at PCI, I’ve been given opportunities to learn from office and field teams, take on new responsibilities, and continue developing my skills.

What advice would you give to those interested in working for PCI?

I’d encourage them to view this as not just a job, but as a career. There are strong opportunities for growth across the company—if you’re willing to put in the effort, stay curious, and take some initiative, PCI is a place where you can develop both professionally and personally.
