Finding Inspiration in the Kansas Flint Hills

For three days in late Summer, we are going to hit the road and head west to the wide open windswept prairie. Our mission will be to come together as a team, strategize, establish goals, brainstorm big picture concepts, deepen our relationships with one another, and have a whole lot of fun in the process. We will be doing all this in a very unique and inspirational setting — the Kansas Flint Hills. There’s something special about the rolling tallgrass prairie that calls to me and rejuvenates my spirit. I’m hoping it will do the same for all of you. The past year has been so challenging, and the pandemic has made us all stir crazy in a very major way. So I want to give us something we all can look forward to. Something that will bring us closer together. I hope you are as excited as I am for this event.

The WHY

Focus on Our Mission, Strategy & Impact

As you all know, our team is an extremely high-performing group of talented individuals. That’s why we hired you! But it’s more of a testament to your commitment to your craft. We can accomplish so much more when we are all working together. The goal for this retreat is to break away from the production routine for a few days, put our collective heads together, and focus on where we want to go as a marketing department— and how we can get there! We will be looking at the big picture. How we can enhance, influence and advance our business. How we can grow, evolve and (as our company President says) “Be Greater”. This is our opportunity to escape the office, refocus, recharge, and retool as a team. So come armed with ideas and be ready to share. It’s going to be a great experience!

The GAME PLAN

Work Hard. Play Harder.

We are going to pack a lot into our 3 days together. First and foremost we will be taking stock of the department objectives we established in January and evaluating our progress at the mid-year point. We will then create a six month strategy to hit our targets by year end. And the beauty of this retreat is that we can free our minds to tackle challenges in non-conventional ways. Not only will we share roundtable discussions in the conference center, there will be other opportunities to collaborate. Brainstorming sessions while relaxing by the pool, team building activities such as hiking or canoeing, and group meals where we can all flex our culinary prowess. This retreat is about coming together as a team, building a deeper trust with each other, and sharing our individual perspectives and experiences. We work for a great company and our team is really something that is quite special. This year will be an opportunity for us to collectively take a big leap forward in how marketing can impact our business and become a more valued solution provider.
